SPIRITS UNLEASHED A GAME BY BETELJUICE
Beatrice the Alchemist sought to create artifical life, her own homunculus, only to be hit with a snag - the process caused an explosion that freed her harvested spirits! Armed only with her shadowy homunculus, Beatrice must survive the spirits wreaking havoc in her lab!
Note: The game ends after beating 10 waves of enemies.
Additionally, there are 10 unique elemental attacks that each have different abilities so be sure to experiment freely.

Controls:
WASD / Arrow Keys for grid based movement
Z / Left click to shoot basic projectile attack
Spacebar to use held crafted element
Q to open the crafting menu
^Left mouse button to grab a hold of objects, click again to de-select
Drag selected element to the shelf, then grab another element onto the other shelf.
Press the "CRAFT" button to add that crafted card to your hand
Press confirm to enter battle

Post-Game-Jam release Changelog:
- Added ambient music!
- Added a progression system to make the game more interesting via upgrading health OR damage
- Added a tooltip feature that will describe the resulting combined element and what it does
- Adjusted and tuned several player attacks
- Fixed several annoying bugs regarding enemies
Overall it's still pretty easy but:
1. It's nice to have the player be able to see *every* element and possible combination in a demo format like this.
2. The demo should be beatable! This is a showcase of the potential gameplay.
I wanted to add the cut enemies and change up the elements players have access to in the post game jam version, but it's probably better to leave this as close to the game jam version as possible here.
I'd like to take this project and make a full game out of it instead :)

Awesome little game. Absolutely love the art style of this game. The characters are cool and the alchemy effects are great. Love the transmutation system, too. Well done.
cute sprites! has the beginnings of a "one step from eden" / megaman battle network but demake vibe but does it's own thing with the alchemy stuff.
